Help Build the Scorecard

Help us discover new ways for students to engage.

The Civic Health Scorecard is designed to grow with the UW community. Students, staff, faculty, and community members can recommend new ways for students to learn, participate, connect, and contribute.

Your idea does not need to be fully developed before you submit it. Give us the information you know, and the CELE Center can review and develop it from there.

First, Choose the Right Form

Is it a Civic Action or an upcoming event?

The easiest way to decide is whether students can complete the opportunity over time or whether it happens on a specific date.

Ongoing Opportunity
Submit a Civic Action
An activity, resource, program, or opportunity students can complete independently or over time.
Examples: volunteering, learning resources, civic conversations, ongoing programs, or individual actions.

Specific Date or Time
Submit an Upcoming Event
An opportunity happening on a specific date or during a defined period of time.
Examples: workshops, lectures, volunteer events, forums, or community gatherings.
Quick Start

Submitting an idea is simple.

You do not need to write the final Scorecard action yourself. Start with the information you already have.

01
Check the Fit
Make sure the opportunity gives students a meaningful way to learn, participate, connect, or contribute.

02
Gather the Basics
Be ready to tell us what students would do, why it matters, and where they can learn more.

03
Submit Your Idea
Send us what you know. CELE will review the idea and follow up if we need more information.
1 • Check the Fit

What makes a strong Scorecard action?

A strong action gives UW students a clear and meaningful way to engage.

Accessible to Students
UW students can reasonably access and participate in the opportunity.

Meaningful Engagement
Students have a meaningful way to learn, participate, connect, or contribute.
Clear Student Action
Students can understand what they are actually being asked to do.

Civic Connection
The experience connects students with their campus, communities, issues, or broader civic life.
2 • Gather the Basics

Tell us what you know.

Having a few details ready will make the form easier to complete.

Be Prepared to Share
✓ What students will do
✓ Why the opportunity matters
✓ Estimated time commitment

✓ Who can participate
✓ Relevant links or resources
✓ Contact information, if relevant
Think from a student's perspective.
What would a student need to know to understand the opportunity and successfully complete the action?
3 • Submit Your Idea

You don't need to write the final Scorecard action.

Use the submission form to tell us about the opportunity. Be as specific as you can, but your idea does not need to be fully developed.

CELE will review the information and can adapt the language, structure, and instructions if the opportunity moves forward as a Scorecard action.

What Happens Next?

We'll take it from there.

New actions are reviewed before they are published. We may contact you if we need more information.

01
Review
CELE reviews the recommendation and its fit with the Scorecard.

02
Feedback
Student or subject-area feedback may be gathered when helpful.

03
Refine
Content, links, instructions, and accessibility are reviewed.

04
Publish
Approved actions are prepared and added to the Scorecard.
Please note: Not every submission will automatically become a Scorecard action, but every recommendation helps us identify meaningful opportunities for UW students.
