Riverways works alongside rural and Tribal schools and communities to expand educational opportunities, support K-12 student learning and college access, and prepare UW students for thoughtful, reciprocal community engagement.

Our History and Name
Riverways began in 1999 as the Pipeline Project. In 2019, students, alumni, staff, facilitators, and Native partners began a collaborative process to select a name that better reflected the program’s values, relationships, and approach. The name Riverways Education Partnerships recognizes the many pathways and connections that shape educational journeys and our commitment to reciprocal, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Our Partnerships Across Washington
For nearly three decades, Riverways has partnered with rural and Tribal schools and community organizations across Washington through Alternative Spring Break, year-long mentorship programs, college-access programming, and STEAM outreach events.
