Culture And Science Exchange (CASE)
Applications are now open for CASE-Yakama 24-25!
If you are interested in applying please contact Alison Horn at ah78@uw.edu.
What is CASE?
CASE is a year-long mentorship program built on a partnership between UW Riverways and the Campbell Farm Community Center/the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. Through this program, UW undergraduates mentor Indigenous (Yakama) middle school students, provide hands-on STEM activities, and encourage them to consider pathways to STEM higher education and careers.
CASE Mentors take quarterly preparatory EDUC 401 seminars to learn about the rich history and culture of the Yakama Nation, learn about equitable educational practices, and prepare lesson plans and learning resources which they implement via quarterly site visits (UW students travel to the partner site) and campus visits (middle school students come to the UW Seattle campus).
